Congratulations to the Sullivan 7th & 8th grade concert band on earning a Division I rating at the IESA Music Organizational this past Saturday! This is the first Division I the ensemble has been awarded since 2015.
Rogers and Garrett’s 7th Grade classes finished their “Up” Project. Learning about buoyant forces, they built LEGO houses and calculated how many balloons to attach to lift them.

The Sullivan Middle School 7th and 8th Grade Band, under the direction of Mr. Shaun Schaefers, competing this evening in the IESA Band and Choir Competition hosted by Sullivan Schools. #OneTribe

Ms. Heddins and Mrs. Garrett’s 6th graders created an interactive periodic table. Each box contains a QR code linked to a ThingLink.

5th Grade STEM students are recycling and building solar cars this week.

The Spring Band Concert is being held on Thursday, April 25th at 6pm in the SHS Gym, featuring our concert bands from 5th-12th grade. It will be live streamed as well! Hope to see you there for our final concert of the year!
As a special reward for trying their best on the Illinois Assessment of Readiness testing, Sullivan Middle School students attended a private screening of A Dog's Way Home at the Little Theater on the Square. We want to give a huge thank you to John Stevens and his staff for making it possible.

The SMS 8th grade girls track team placed first out of 14 teams at the Arthur Invite on Saturday. Event winners include Cassidy Short- 8th grade long jump, and the 8th grade 4X100 relay team of Booker, Moore, Hay, and Short. Congratulations to all of the 8th grade girls- Go Redskins!

Students in 6th grade STEM tried the “Pringle Engineering Challenge” today - given a can of Pringles, try to build a ring that can support itself! We had three groups finish successfully - everyone else was successful at eating them! Friday FUNday in the STEM lab!

Students in Rogers’ STEM class met with Herb Bricker to discuss the erosion study of Asa Creek in Tabor Park and helped to clean up the shoreline to prevent log jams in the creek.

Congratulations to SMS band and piano students who participated in Solo and Ensemble this past weekend! All students received a division I or II rating on their solos! Students who performed: Johnathan I, Abigail D, Braden W, Ivan M, Lara H, Marissa F, and Carly F.
7th graders in middle school science have been busy designing and building their balloon cars. Race day is tomorrow for most of them.

Here are a few quick announcements for Sullivan Middle School this week:
IAR testing will begin for all students grades 5-8 on Wednesday, March 27th.
The SHS Junior Class is hosting a Neon Dance for all students grades 5-8 on Friday night from 6-8pm in the SHS Commons. Admission is $3 with snacks and drinks available for purchase as well.
The 7th and 8th Grade Spring Dance will be on April 12th.
