Both Sullivan Junior High volleyball teams earned wins over Villa Grove on Saturday to advance to Round 2 of the JHOC Conference Tournament!
The 7th grade team won in two sets, 25–13 and 25–5.
The 8th grade team also won in two sets, 25–9 and 25–19.
Both teams will compete again on Monday night (2/16) back at Villa Grove vs Tuscola. 7th Grade starts at 6 PM and 8th Grade to follow. Matches will be in their HS Gym on Monday night. Good luck, Lady Redskins! #OneTribe

SMS Volleyball received the #2 seed for the JHOC Conference Tournament! The girls will play their first round matchups this Saturday, February 14th @ Villa Grove JH. 7th Grade will be playing Villa Grove starting at 9 AM and 8th Grade will follow at 10 AM. (Times are approximations, be sure to arrive a little earlier in case they are running ahead) All games are at Villa Grove JH/HS. Games on Saturday will be in their JH Gym.
Admission for the tournament is as follows: 1. Students/Senior Citizens - $2.00 2. Adults - $3.00 3. All teachers holding a pass whether it is local or state will have free admission

Congratulations to Miriam Parri and the inaugural ILMEA All-State Junior High Band for an exceptional performance on Friday evening! The band performed four selections of challenging music as a part of the Junior Division All-State Concert at IMEC in Peoria, Illinois.
The band rehearsed for 10 hours on Thursday and Friday to prepare for the evening performance. The ensemble was comprised of 7th and 8th grade students from across the state. Miriam was one of several to represent District 5 (East-Central Illinois). This concert was the culmination of talent, hard work, and excellence in musicianship.

At last night's Regional Championship game, the IESA handed out sportsmanship pins to an individual from each team. David Ryherd was the recipient from Sullivan! David represented himself, his teammates, and his school with a humble, hardworking, and respectful approach to the game.
Here is the criteria for the award:
The IESA Sportsmanship Pin is awarded throughout the state series to one member from each team in recognition of exemplary sportsmanship. Recipients of this honor consistently display a positive attitude toward teammates, opponents, and officials. They show a commitment to giving their best effort in the game and always maintain respectful conduct towards those around them. Additionally, they exhibit positive body language that uplifts and inspires both teammates and peers. This recognition celebrates athletes who embody the values of sportsmanship and enhance the competitive spirit of the game.

8th Grade Boys unfortunately fall short to Greenville in the Regional Championship game! The boys had an incredible season filled with improvement and determination. Rehearsal is underway for the inaugural ILMEA All-State Junior High Band in Peoria, Illinois! 8th Grader Miriam Parri is a part of the trombone section, which is comprised of top junior high musicians from around Illinois.
The band will perform in a joint concert with the All-State Chorus and Orchestra at Carver Arena in the Peoria Civic Center on Friday at 6 PM.

IESA 8th Grade Regional (1/29): Here is the adjusted schedule for tomorrow night's 8th Grade Regional. Both the semi-final and championship games will be played tomorrow night at Hillsboro HS. Teams will be dismissed at 2:30 tomorrow for a 2:45 bus departure. Coaches will have sandwiches, chips, and drink for the evening for the cheer and basketball team.
4pm Greenville vs Shelbyville
5:15 Sullivan vs. Pana
6:30 or later (to allow for a break if teams that just played want a break we will accommodate for a later start) Winner of game 1 vs. Winner of game 2 = Championship
