The SMS cross country team competed at home tonight against Maranatha Baptist Academy, Tri-County, and Trinity Lutheran. Both the boys’ and girls’ teams claimed first place. The girls secured the win with just 16 points, led by top finishers Avery Hess, Aubrey Fultz, Kylan Hall, Libby Wall, and Harper Standerfer. The boys followed with a strong performance, finishing with 23 points. Their top five were Khiry Campbell, Aydan Rubush, Bryce Badman, Braxton Gilbert, and Griffin Woods. The teams return to action on Tuesday at home, racing at Tabor Park starting at 4:30 p.m! Way to go Redskins! #OneTribe

At the Regional Championship game on Saturday, the IESA awarded Sportsmanship pins to one athlete from each competing team. Kylie Wickline was selected as the recipient from Sullivan!

Here are the criteria for the award:

  • Shows a positive attitude toward teammates, opponents, and officials

  • Gives their best effort on the field

  • Does not argue calls and is respectful to officials

  • Displays positive body language at all times

  • Helps elevate the play and behavior of teammates

The SMS Cross Country team competed in a meet in Charleston this evening. Both the girls’ and boys’ teams ran strong races and earned impressive second-place finishes with many setting new season PRs. Leading the way for the girls were top finishers Avery Hess, Aubrey Fultz, Kylan Hall, Harper Standerfer, and Reese Hall. On the boys’ side, top five finishers were Khiry Campbell, Aydan Rubush, Gideon Walk, Griffin Woods, and Oliver Florey.
