SHS Events this week!

Congratulations to Johnathan Iacobazzi, who ran a 16:30 finishing 102nd out of 258 runners at the IHSA State Cross Country meet today!
Big days for our swimmers today in Sectionals!
Emily Crosier 1st in the 100 backstroke headed to State! 2nd in the 50 freestyle.
Cadence Schmohe 5th in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke.
Emerson Risley 4th place 100 butterfly. 8th place 100 freestyle.
3 girls took on 26 teams and finished 7th in Sectional points. They all came to swim and had impressive races!
Congrats girls!

SOV Redskins end their incredible run this year with a 42-21 loss to Mt Carmel today, falling to 9-2

Information from Mt. Carmel for fans traveling to Saturday's playoff game:
- Gates open at 12:00 pm
- $6 admission, no passes accepted
- No air horns are allowed
- Park across the street from the stadium at 230 Golden Aces Way. Mt. Carmel, IL OR at the school (if you park at the school, be prepared to walk up 120 steps after the game)
Winter SHS and SMS sports schedules are available at the banks and gas stations in town to pickup!

The HS cross country team had a great day at the St. Teresa Sectional. Johnathon Iacobazzi is Sullivan’s first cross country state qualifier since 2011. He will be running at the state meet in Peoria on Saturday, November 4th!
SHS FCCLA and IL FCCLA send a huge thank you and shoutout to some of our Sullivan Alumni and community members that presented workshops at our Fall Leadership Meeting earlier this week in Springfield! We are so grateful for Moultrie County Treasurer, Stephanie Helmuth, Alex Love of SBLH, Melissa Kreiger of Sullivan Dance Studio, and Elizabeth Houser of Country Financial for giving up part of their day to help build young leaders! We also thank Sherri Leopald and SFC Luca and SGT Stankavich from the Army National Guard for joining us to help these students step into leadership opportunities! We appreciate you all!

Another reminder for the IHSA Playoff game Saturday - the East Grass lot (JFL practice field) will be available for parking starting at 11:30 am. If you plan to arrive earlier, please park in the school parking lot, at the park, or on the road
We are looking forward to hosting the 1st round IHSA Football Playoff game this Saturday at 1:30! A couple reminders for fans coming:
- Parking in the East lot (JFL field) will open at 11:30, so will concessions by Athletic Boosters!
- Gates will open at 11:45
- Admission is $5 for ALL entry. No passes accepted
- Per IHSA - No drones will be allowed over the premises
- The game will be livestreamed on the school's Youtube page
Mr Huber's Civics classes today started on their Law Unit Mock Trial! The attorneys delivered their opening statements and began to question their witnesses!




Starting today, the National English Honor Society is participating in a tumbler and water bottle fundraiser. A portion of all sales will be donated back to the society for a future service project within the school district and community. The link will be open until November 20th, and all orders will be completed and ready for pick up no later than the week of December 18th... just in time for the holidays! SHS FCCLA hosted one of the five IL FCCLA Fall Leadership meetings today in Springfield at the Northfield Conference Center. Nine chapters of FCCLA were present with 129 students and 9 advisors participating in the meeting. Students attended workshops on team building and being a productive member of a team, learned self defense tips from National Guard members, discussed leadership qualities and attributes, and learned about potential career paths throughout many aspects of adulthood.
The keynote speaker encouraged students to research and identify ways to help their teams achieve maximum success! FCCLA members were challenged to have the thrill of a lifetime!
