NEHS was thrilled to take their annual trip to Barnes & noble to purchase books. Thanks to the Gary Emel Foundation, NEHS was able to buy nearly 50 books for classroom libraries for middle school and high school English teachers. Over the next several weeks, members will work to cover the books with protective covering to ensure they last as long as possible. Additionally, each book will have a label noting the book was purchased by the Gary Emel Foundation and selected by NEHS. We are excited to get the books covered and in the classroom libraries for students to check out!

Ms. Voegel, Coach Taylor, and 30 SHS FCCLA members attended the Fall Leadership Conference today held at EIU. Attendees participated and interacted with Mr.Science Guy during the opening session as he engaged the 200 person audience with several science related experiments, while incorporating leadership lessons within them. Featured on the Today show, he ignited a fire in these young leaders as they begin their leadership journey through FCCLA! Students also networked with local chapters, including our Moultrie County neighbor of Okaw Valley, and got to spend some time collaborating with those students! Workshops followed including a tour of the fashion lab, overview of competitive events, and the featured Community Service project for the year, Ronald McDonald House. Members got a chance to live out their mission statement of building skills for life, creating opportunities to give back to their communities, and turning future career dreams into realities.
