First grade has been learning all about apples. Mrs. Fultz and Mrs. Becker’s classes came together to use some of their apples to make apple crisp. Each student peeled their own apple and helped mix the topping.

First grade has been learning all about insects. So, last week first grade had an insect trading day. The students made their own insects, learned to eat and see like an insect, and looked for insects with the help of Mr. V. And Mr. Palmer! Mrs. Becker’s class had a great time!

Mrs. Seeley’s class recently visited the Okaw Valley Orchard. We saw apples growing on trees, and sampled apples grown at the orchard, as well as other yummy items made from apples. We also saw goats, observed a honey bee display, and enjoyed some exercise on the playground. Funding for this field trip was provided by the Growing in the Garden Project grant through the Lumpkin Family Foundation.
