Sullivan Middle School held our 4th quarter Breakfast of Champions this morning. Congratulations to Liam Coil, Apsara Golden, Addison Hullum, Gavin Wade, Julia Moody, Aubrey Gingerich, Issac Reider, Taevyn Dixon, Landen Craig, Khyli Kelly, and Jaxon Brandeberry for displaying outstanding characteristics worthy of this recognition. Students in Mr. Webb’s 8th grade social studies classes hosted a 1920s speakeasy party on Friday! It was the cat’s pajamas, the bee’s knees, and everything in between! Students were able to dress up, enjoy smooth jazz, board games, snacks, and punch… if they knew the password, of course!
Students in Mr. Webb’s 8th grade social studies classes participated in a 1920s Stock Market Simulation today! Students had the opportunity to “invest” in five different “companies” over an eight-round session. Unfortunately, the Great Crash of 1929 sent most of them home empty handed. It was the perfect segue into tomorrow’s lesson on the Great Depression!
Extra copies of the SMS Yearbook are now available! Yearbooks are $25 and can be purchased from Mrs. Wright or in the office from Mrs. Rose. Checks should be made out to SMS.
Mae Dawkins was honored this morning at the Illinois Principals Association Student Recognition Breakfast in Springfield. Mae was nominated by Mr. Ogle and the faculty of Sullivan Middle School for her outstanding character and leadership. Mae was joined at the event by Mr. Ogle and her mother, Alice Dawkins. Congratulations, Mae! We are #OneTribe!

Each year SMS holds The Great Banana Race on the last day of the year. Students will get more information in May, but t-shirts are on sale through next Wednesday, May 4th. See the flyer for details!

Students in Mr. Webb’s 7th grade social studies classes engaged in a simulation today surrounding the strengths and weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation, our nation’s first Constitution. Students acted as delegates from each of the thirteen states. Problems were posed, debates were had, and solutions were difficult to achieve.

Sullivan Middle School students who logged at least 500 pages for the 3rd quarter Reading Redskins competition celebrated at Building 1225 this afternoon. The rest of the day will filled with activities to celebrate Women's History Month. We are #OneTribe!
