
SMS Track needs volunteers for the final meet of the year tomorrow afternoon (5/12)! There are over 20 entries in most field events tomorrow. We have the capability to run two flights at a time, if we have enough help. If you’re available please consider helping, especially shot & disc! No experience necessary. Meet starts at 4 PM. Another successful night for the SMS track team at the Robinson Invite last night! Both 7th grade boys and girls placed 2nd overall and the 8th grade girls taking first overall! Numerous athletes set personal records, several placed in the top 3 and two more school records were taken down!
First, Emma McCain reset her own 400m school record she set a few weeks ago with a time of 1:03.44!
Secondly, Addie Patterson smashed the 100m hurdles record of 16.9 set in 2005 by her mother, Alex (McCain) Patterson with a time of 15.82!

6th Grade Meet @ Okaw Valley tonight has been cancelled due to large amounts of rain earlier in the day and potential for more storms in Bethany. No practice tonight.

The Sullivan Middle School Track teams had a successful showing at the JHOC Conference Meet held at Cerro Gordo. 8th Grade Boys placed 3rd overall, 7th Grade Boys placed 2nd overall, and both 7th and 8th Grade Girls won Conference as a team!
Individually, several athletes placed in the top 6 across running and field events. Three new JHOC Conference records were set.
- 7th grade 4x200 ran by Emma McCain, Anissa Herschberger, Addy Hendry, & Piper Fleener (1:58.38)
- 8th grade 4x100 ran by Tenley Campbell, Emma Drake, Wren Wall, & Addi Patterson (53.89)
- 8th grade 4x400 ran by Wren Wall, Emma Drake, Tenley Campbell & Emma McCain (4:30.65)
Lastly, another school record was claimed by Emma McCain in the 400m. She broke Avery Renfro's 7th grade record of 1:05.06 set in 2023 with a time of 1:04.52!

SMS Track will practice in the armory today (5/1) after school until 4:30 PM.

The SMS Scholastic Bowl team wrapped up their season last night at their Regional match in Mt Zion. This year’s team showed incredible growth with players stepping up and improving with every meet. They’re already setting goals and getting excited for next season! #OneTribe


MS Track Parents heading to Cerro Gordo next week for the Conference Meet on Monday May 5th: There will be an admission charged at the gate. Admission cost will be $4.00 for adults and $2.00 for students.

We have had a couple school records get broken for SMS Track this past week!
1. 8th grade 4x400m relay, ran by Wren Wall, Emma Drake, Tenley Campbell, and Emma McCain broke the Sullivan Middle School record set just last year with a time of 4:23.10. (Previous record holders: Emma Drake, Emma McCain, Avery Renfro, & Lyla Wright with a time of 4:23.56 in 2024)
2. 8th grade 4x100m relay, ran by Tenley Campbell, Emma Drake, Wren Wall, and Addie Patterson broke the Sullivan Middle School record set just last year with a time of 53.14. (Previous record holders: Piper Conlin, Avery Renfro, Karson Robinson, & Natalie Stinson with a time of 53.20 in 2024)
3. Tenley Campbell reset her school record in long jump, with a jump of 4.94m (16' 2.5")

Despite unfavorable conditions, the Sullivan Middle School boys and girls track team showed up and competed Saturday at the Arthur Jr. High Invite!
The 7th and 8th grade boys both placed 3rd overall with several athletes individually placing in the top 6.
Additionally, both 7th and 8th grade girls each took 1st place overall, with several girls placing in the top 6, and one meet record set.
7th grade 4x200 relay, ran by Addy Hendry, Emma McCain, Anissa Herschberger, and Piper Fleener broke the meet record set 20 years ago with a new time of 2:00.63! #OneTribe



Brackets have been released for the IESA Scholastic Bowl Regional. Regional will take place next Wednesday, April 30th @ Mt. Zion JH. Sullivan will play their first match of the day against Tuscola starting at 3:45 PM. Good Luck and Go Redskins! #OneTribe

Last night was fantastic night for our first home meet of the season for MS Track! We had two records get broken last night! Tenley Campbell broke Lauren Taylor’s 8th grade long jump record of 15’ 10.5” set in 2005 with a jump of 4.92 meters (16 ft 1.7 inches) Harley Alms broke Carlin & Cadison Nuzzo’s 7th grade pole vault record of 6’ 9” set in 2011 with a vault of 2.29 meters (7ft 6inches) Congratulations ladies! #OneTribe


MS Track is adding a 6th Grade Only Meet to their schedule. This will be in Bethany at Okaw Valley High School starting at 4 PM on Thursday, May 8th. #OneTribe

7th grader Miriam Parri competed at the IESA Solo and Ensemble Competition this morning where she treated us to a flawless and beautiful performance of the second movement of "Theme (from a New World Symphony)".
The judge agreed with our assessment of Miriam's performance by awarding her with a Level 1, the highest rating possible. Congratulations, Miriam!


Members of the Sullivan Middle School 8th grade class had the opportunity to attend the 8th Grade Career Conference at Lake Land College yesterday. The students heard an oustanding keynote address from author and motivaitonal speaker Brooks Harper and then spent some time meeting people from a wide range of professions to learn more about the opportunities that will await them after high school.
