With our move to the new building, not all of our cherished old dishes made the journey; many had seen their better days. I am deeply grateful to Erica Piper and her incredible team at Heritage Woods for their generous gift of six brand new Corelle Dish Sets for each of our kitchens. If the only thing the FCS students carry with them when they leave the classroom is that sharing a meal around a table is a powerful bond—then I know I have truly fulfilled my purpose. To say this semester’s culinary students—and I, as their teacher—were overwhelmed is an understatement. Erica thank you again for your unwavering support, willingness to pour into my students and program. You are forever etched into the stories we will tell around countless future tables.

Sullivan Varsity Volleyball ended their season last night in a tough regional semifinal match against Pana, falling in two sets — 21-25, 11-25. Our varsity players have accomplished incredible things this year, finishing with 21 wins, a milestone that places this team in the Sullivan volleyball history books. Our JV went 28-3, our Fresh/Soph went 29-3. There's so much to be proud of for Sullivan Volleyball. A big thank you to our seniors — Aeralyn Thrasher, Mae Dawkins, Eiley Poe, Kate Bushue, Nevaeh Wilson, and Kharli Kelly — for their leadership, dedication, and impact on this program. You’ve left your mark and set the bar high for future teams. We couldn’t be more proud of this group — for their hard work, resilience, and the way they represented Sullivan with pride and heart all season long. Go Redskins!

We're thrilled to share that Cora Emel, senior, was selected as one of the Top 10 essay finalist for the NPR Illinois "This I Believe" essay contest written in her dual credit composition class. Her essay titled, "I Believe in Sunshine" offers a heartfelt reflection on finding light and optimism even in difficult times. Cora's essay stood out among hundreds of entries submitted by students from across the state, and as part of this incredible honor she had the opportunity to visit the NPR Illinois studio, where she professionally recorded her essay to be shared with listener statewide. This recognition not only celebrates Cora's powerful writing voice, but it also highlights the creativity, thoughtfulness, and dedication our students bring to their work every day. We are so proud of her accomplishment and the positive message she's sharing with the world. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the National English Honor Society, and chapters across the country have been challenged to complete 20 hours of service in honor of this milestone. Our NEHS members have proudly contributed by lending a hand at our regular season home volleyball games, staying after each one to pick up trash and keep our new gym clean. 🏐 A huge thank-you to our dedicated members for showing that service and leadership go hand in hand! 💙📚

Saturday was a great day for the Sullivan High School Marching Band!

For the field show competition in the afternoon, the band took home 1st Place in Class 1A and won Caption Awards for Best Drum Major, Best Music, and Best Visuals! The band had its best performance to date and marked an awesome end to their competitive season and all of the hard work they have put in this fall. This also marks the first time the band has finished 1st in a field show competition in nearly 10 years.

For the parade competition in the evening, the band also took home 1st Place in Class 1A and won Caption Awards for Best Auxiliary (Guard) and Best Drum Major! The Oblong Spooktacular Parade featured 26 bands across classifications and is one of the largest evening parades in Illinois. This is the Guard's first Caption Award and a wonderful achievement for their first season in years!

Congratulations, Sullivan High School Marching Band, on a great competition season!
