We have recieved a number of calls inquiring about the One Book One Sullivan Community Book Discussion that is scheduled for 6pm tonight at the First United Methodist Church. We do plan to continue with this event as planned. Obviously, we are always very excited about this event, and we love to see the amazing turnout of community members who are excited to discuss this year's book with our students; however, we also encourage everyone to make the best decision possible for their own individual health. If you are feeling any symptoms of a respiratory illness, we would ask that you abstain from this event. Also, if you have any health issues which have proven to be a concern for those who have contracted COVID-19, we would also ask that you abstain from this event. Thank you for your understanding, and we hope to see as many of you tonight as possible.

Come out tonight to support our Sullivan FFA Chapter as they have their annual auction fundraiser. This amazing group of kids work hard all yearlong and they would love to see you tonight in the High School Gym! A complimentary dinner will be served at 4:30, followed by the auction beginning at 6 p.m.

6th grade students practiced solving equations with a fun breakout activity. Students had to solve the equations to figure out the code to get into the box, and then solve an additional challenge problem to earn a prize.

Day off? Not for these girls!! Come watch our Lady Redskins take on Neoga in SMS Volleyball starting with 7th grade at 4:15 with 8th grade to follow! #onetribe

Tonight’s Middle School Volleyball game scheduled at Mattoon is canceled. The game will not be rescheduled.

Thank you to many 5th grade parents who donated Oreos to science class so we could do this fun Phases of the Moon activity. Students used Oreos to create all 8 phases of the moon. Then they took a picture and used the app Pic Collage to label their phases. They really made some cool creations!

Sullivan Singers Jr. showed up big at the Danville Midwest Classic tonight! The group brought home 1st Runner-Up honors along with Best Combo (band). Additionally, Ivan Moxley was named Male Solo Competition Grand Champion and Triniti Preyer was named Female Solo Competition Grand Champion! #OneTribe

On Monday, February 10th, Sullivan will be conducting the Illinois Youth Survey with our 8th grade class. Attached is a document that explains the survey in great detail. We have been participating in this survey for many years, and it does provide us with a great snapshot of the issues our students are facing so that we can coordinate pro-active supports to assist them. At the bottom of the form is a section that parents can complete in order to opt out of the survery. Students are also given the opportunity to opt-out themselves at the time of the survey, so it is completely voluntary on their behalf.

It's a great night for some volleyball as Meridian comes to town. There is still time to come cheer on the 8th grade girls in the SHS gym. #OneTribe

SMS Volleyball hosted Argenta-Oreana tonight. 6th and 7th grade girls both won in two sets, while 8th grade dropped to the Bombers.
The girls are in action, Tuesday and Thursday, in the HS gym, this week. Come out and watch them play! #onetribe

I is for Ice! Mrs. Seeley’s early childhood class enjoyed playing with a large tray of ice and arctic animal figurines. As the ice began to melt, we discussed why water started to cover the tray. We also put an ice cube in a dish and predicted what would happen to it.

8th graders testing their final incubator designs. They’ve been using chemistry concepts over the past couple months to design third world incubators for pre-term births. Several groups were able to reach the temp criteria on their redesigns.

It was great to have our 7th/8th band students combine with our high school pep band this past Friday for MS Pep Band Night! Students had a chance to experience what it’s like being in the HS band, and got to see an exciting basketball game vs. Clinton (and also, pizza)!

Good luck to the Lady Redskins as they open up play today in the CIC Tournament against Meridian at Shelbyville High School at 3:00 PM! #onetribe!

Statement Regarding Sullivan Show Choir Competition on Saturday, January 25, 2020.
As of the afternoon of Friday, January 24th, weather sources are forecasting overnight snow ranging from 2-6 inches for the area surrounding Crete-Monee with forecasted temperatures in the low 30’s during the timeframe that our Show Choir buses will be making their way to the competition venue. While we are incredibly proud of the tradition of excellence that exists in our Show Choir program and are very excited for them to compete on Saturday, we believe that a big part of “Thinking of Students First” is keeping their safety first and foremost in our decision making. We will continue to monitor weather forecasts throughout the evening, and the plan moving forward is to send our show choirs to Crete-Monee as planned; however, we will be sending an administrator along with the buses to continuously monitor road conditions to determine if the buses may proceed or should turn around and come home. If the decision is made that it is no longer safe to proceed, the buses will turn around as soon as it is safe to do so and return immediately to Sullivan High School. Notification of a decision to turn around would be communicated through the district’s social media platforms and through the Singers Booster Club.
