Sullivan Middle School

The SMS XC teams competed in a tough meet Tuesday evening in Shelbyville, facing off against Mt. Zion, Shelbyville, Teutopolis, Sangamon Valley, and Cowden Herrick. The girls team had a strong showing, finishing 3rd overall with 65 points. Leading the way were top five finishers Avery Hess, Aubrey Fultz, Kylan Hall, Harley Alms, and Hope Conner. The boys team battled hard and earned a 4th place finish with 116 points. Top five finishers were Khiry Campbell, Bryce Badman, Griffin Woods, Aydan Rubush, and Gideon Walk. The teams will be back in action next Tuesday in Charleston! Go Redskins! #OneTribe

SMS Softball wins 9-1 over Cerro Gordo/Bement! This moves the girls to 6-0 in the JHOC with their conference finale vs Shiloh this Saturday! B team ties 5-5. Way to go Lady Redskins! #OneTribe 🥎

SMS Baseball split their Varsity/Junior Varsity doubleheader with Neoga on Saturday (8/30) Nolan McCann pitched 4 solid innings in relief to keep the game within reach but the offense just could get the key hits when we needed them. Sawyer Wade, Bryce Badman, Braxton Gilbert and Kellan Mossman all collected two hits apiece on the day! On Monday evening (9/1) defeated conference opponent Villa Grove 15-3. Jackson Williamson had three hits and Hunter Walton had two hits to lead the offensive attack. Kayden Randol pitched two innings and struck out 4 batters. Their next game (9/4) against Arthur will decide conference champions - Sullivan (5-0 Conference) vs Arthur (4-0-1 Conference). Go Redskins! ⚾️ #OneTribe

SMS Softball took on Windsor/Stew-Stras this morning in a full DH. The Lady Redskins drop the first game, but win the second game! It was a great morning for some softball! Next up another conference game vs CGB @ Bement on Tuesday afternoon! Go Lady Redskins! 🥎 #OneTribe

SMS Baseball gets a big win over Shelbyville this evening with a 9-6 victory! This brings their record to 6-2 on the season. The boys are back in action at HOME tomorrow night starting at 4:30 PM. SMS XC teams had a strong showing in their second meet of the season against Mt. Zion, Cerro Gordo/Bement, Maroa-Forsyth, Tuscola, and Central A&M. Both the boys and girls teams earned 2nd place finishes, coming in just behind Mt. Zion! Leading the way for the girls were Avery Hess, Aubrey Fultz, Harley Alms, Clarice Standerfer, and Reese Hall. Top finishers for the boys were Khiry Campbell, Bryce Badman, Aydan Rubush, Gideon Walk, and Griffin Woods. The teams will compete again next Tuesday at the Dacey Trail in Shelbyville, with races beginning at 4:30 p.m! #ONETRIBE

SMS Baseball splits their round-robin tournament on Saturday with Mattoon (1-13 L) and Tuscola (4-1 W). Jackson Williamson led the team to victory over Tuscola. He had 2 hits and 2 RBI’s at the plate. He also pitched 6 innings of shutout baseball allowing just 1 hit and striking out 12 Tuscola batters! Sullivan plays Stew-Stras today (8/25) on the road in a JV contest. The varsity team is back in action on Wednesday (8/27 @ Shelbyville). #OneTribe

SMS Baseball picked up another conference win on Thursday night, 17-3 vs Okaw Valley. Record is now 4-1 (3-0 JHOC)! Tyson Schmoe was the MVP of the game collecting 2 hits and 5 RBI’s! The Redskins play again Saturday morning in a Round Robin Tournament with Mattoon and Tuscola (East Prairie). First game is at 9 am. ⚾️ Go Redskins! #OneTribe

A great start to the season for our SMS XC team! The SMS cross country team kicked off their season strong at the opener, with both the boys’ and girls’ squads earning 2nd place finishes behind a tough Shelbyville team. The girls tallied 31 points, led by standout runs from Avery Hess, Aubrey Fultz, Kylan Hall, Harley Alms, and Hope Conner. The boys finished with 43 points, paced by Khiry Campbell, Gideon Walk, Aydan Rubush, Bentley Meadows, and Case Johnson. The team will be back in action on Tuesday night at Tabor Park starting at 4:30pm. #ONETRIBE
