The family and friends of Aaron Jones will be gathering to celebrate his life on Sunday, August 11 at 2pm on Victory Field, and they’d be honored if you’d join them. Mr. Jones graduated from Sullivan High School in 2016, where he participated in the band program and earned the title of Drum Major for the Marching Redskins. Mr. Jones continued his education at EIU where he pursued music and once again earned the title of Drum Major. Mr. Jones returned to his hometown when he was hired as the Band Director and Music Teacher at Sullivan High School in 2022. He showed a passion for music and a love for working with the students. He displayed tremendous pride in his community and in being a part of Sullivan Schools. We are fortunate to have had Mr. Jones as part of the Sullivan Schools family. The family requests casual dress; if you are able, please wear apparel supporting Sullivan High School, Eastern Illinois University, or the SHS band program. If you would like more details on Mr. Jones service, a link to the full obituary is included below.

SHS FCCLA would like to provide their Summer Spotlight to all of our Sullivan 300 Summer Maintenance, Custodial, and Summer student workers for all of their diligent and dedicated work to prepare the schools and facilities for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year! Thanks in part to generous community donations and community support of our fundraisers throughout the year, we were able to provide these fantastic people with an IGA lunch to show our appreciation. These workers are an integral part of why Sullivan CUSD 300 is such an amazing district with top notch facilities, and we are grateful that we could celebrate them with a much deserved meal!

On Monday, 8/5, seniors will be painting their parking spots in the back lot. It will be closed for regular parking until Tuesday to give freshly painted spots time to dry. Please utilize the East SES lot or the park parking lot in front of the high school. Thank you!

The 2024 SOV Football Lift-a-Thon was a huge success tonight! As a team we lifted 35,125 pounds, which is over 5,540 pounds more than last year's Lift-a-Thon, and our returning players averaged over a 100 pound increase in their total weight lifted! The Tribe of Forlines and Smith won the Total Weight Lifted part of the competition with a total of 7,100 pounds, while the Tribe of Fryman and Donovan won the Pound for Pound part of the competition with an average pound for pound ratio of 3.57 times their body weight! Mason Booker won the individual Highest Total Weight award after lifting 290 in Bench, 435 in Squat, and 275 in Power Clean for a total of an even 1000 pounds! Mason also won the Best Pound for Pound Lifter award with a ratio of 5.27 times his body weight! Braden Lucas won the Largest Increase in Weight award with an increase of 235 pounds in total weight lifted since last year's competition! We are very proud of all of our guys, and of all the work we have put in over the last year to prepare for this fall! Huge thank you to Second Chance Fitness 24 Hour Gym and Ben Booker for hosting our competition once again this year! It is not too late to help support the Lift-a-Thon and SOV Football for this upcoming season! Please visit https://onlinedonations.us/home/team-view-fundraiser/6224/6224

Huge thank you to Kevin Conlin and Mid-State Tank for providing The Lemonade Stand beverages for all of our SOV football guys tonight! They were delicious, and it was a great way to end our summer camp! Thank you!
