SHS Boys had a strong finish at the IHSA Sectionals at Tuscola on Wednesday to wrap up the 2026 regular season! As a team we finished in 5th place out of 18 teams, and Johnny Iacobazzi won the 1600 to qualify for the IHSA State meet at EIU next week, along with our 4x800 team of Easton Wickline, Karson Ragsdale, James Feldkamp, and Johnny Iacobazzi! Congrats to these athletes!
It is always hard to quantify how successful a track season is, as we do not have a typical win/loss record like most other sports, but in looking back at how we finished in every meet this season and totaling up the teams we finished ahead of in points at all of our team-scored meets, the 2026 SHS Boys Track Team finished with a total record of 95 Wins-23 Losses. That is a winning percentage of .81 for the season. We earned a 2nd place trophy in our Lincoln Prairie Conference meet, and we also had two new school records set this year in the 800m and 1600m by Johnny Iacobazzi. So our boys had another very strong season with a young roster, and with 37 athletes slated to return next season, the future is looking bright for our track program. We are very proud of all of our athletes and our coaching staff for the incredible amount of work put into this season and all the success we had in 2026!
