Today's Athletic Events:
SHS varsity boys golf competes against Okaw Valley and Shelbyville at Eagle Creek Golf Course beginning at 4:00. Participating team members need to be dismissed from class at 2:35 for a 2:50 bus.
SHS varsity girls golf competes against Teutopolis and Charleston at Charleston Country Club beginning at 4:00. Participating team members need to be dismissed from class at 2:30 for a 2:45 bus.
SMS Baseball hosts Beecher City Junior High School as a part of IESA regional competition at Lane Field at 4:30.
SHS Volleyball competes at Monticello High School tonight beginning at 6:00.
Results From Last Night:
From SOV Football: The SOV JV Football team hosted Shelbyville last night at Okaw Valley High School in Bethany. The team competed hard as they were down only 8 points within three minutes left before ultimately being defeated by a score of 36-22. The JV team will compete next on Monday at Warrensburg-Latham.
From SHS Volleyball: The SHS varsity volleyball team was defeated by Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond High School: 25-11, 25-9 last night. While the Lady Redskins struggled to execute several aspects on the floor, they were able to make small defensive adjustments, and attempted to hunt down out-of system balls. The JV team was also defeated in two sets: 25-6, 25-9. Carsyn Seeley, Jerra Goad, and Erin Wallace each contributed Aces for the team. Both squads resume action tonight at 6:00 at Monticello High School.
From SHS Girls Golf: The Lady Redskins traveled to Pana yesterday to compete against Pana and Charleston. We shot 213 as a team, which was good enough to beat Pana (218), but not good enough to beat Charleston (185). We do have another opportunity this afternoon to redeem ourselves at Charleston Country Club against Charleston and T-Town. We were led in scoring by Alexis Britton, Addison Darush, Irie Dulin, and Esther Miller. Laura Tate set a personal best last night and Miriah Booker rounded out our six players. Our record is now 4-2 and we excited about the next couple busy weeks of golf.
