2016-2017 Local Scholarship List

Attached is a list of local scholarships that will be offered for the 2016-2017 school year. In this document you will find important scholarship information, deadlines, and dates.


American Legion Post 68 Scholarship

Open to current year graduates of Sullivan High School in Sullivan, Illinois. Two letters of recommendation, an original 500 word essay on “Americanism” as it pertains to living in Sullivan, Illinois or your home town community, a certified transcript or photocopy of high school grades with current GPA and class rank, and ACT or SAT test scores must accompany scholarship application. Eligibility requirements are that each applicant must be a deserving student graduating from the public high schools in the County of Moultrie, or a nonresident descendant of a legionnaire in good standing of American Legion Post 68.


Barbara Steffens College/University Scholarship

Open to current graduating seniors at Sullivan High School in Sullivan, Illinois who show academic excellence, exhibit good citizenship, and has financial need. Applicants will be required to complete a short essay describing his/her educational and professional goals.


Billy Harris Memorial Scholarship

Open to current year graduates of Sullivan High School in Sullivan, Illinois who will major in education. Graduates must be involved in extra-curricular activities, have a minimum of 2.25 GPA, and be enrolled in a two-year junior, four-year college, or vocational/technical school pursuing a degree in teacher education. A 500 word essay must accompany the application.


Blake Lane Scholarship

Open to current graduating seniors of Sullivan High School in Sullivan, Illinois who exhibit good character, and is enrolled in a two-year junior college or four-year college or vocational/technical school. Preference will be given to football or track athletes and to athletes recommended by their athletic coaches.
